She went to the house of a rich man in Aspen. He talked to her in the arrogant, condescending tone that rich people often use to speak to anybody they see as inferior. However, instead of attributing this to class, Solnit assumed that it was sexism. I see no rational basis for this assumption, other than confirming Solnit's pre-existing biases.
